Naples, FL: (January 23, 2020) . . . Emillions Art, the global fine art consulting firm located on 5th Avenue South in Naples, will host a curated show of floral abstract painter Carol Calicchio’s fine art with an opening reception and live painting demonstration on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the firm’s new show room at 837 Fifth Avenue South, suite 202. The exhibit is open to the public February 21 until February 28, 2020.
“Abstract painting is often considered one of the purest forms of expression, as it does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use shapes, colors, forms and textures to achieve their best visual strength,” says Emillions Art founder and global art consultant Marlissa Gardner.
“Carol’s paintings emphasize color and her love of florals. She often adds animals and beautiful flowers to make a more emotional and beautiful painting,” notes Gardner. “She’s an intuitive painter inspired by nature – flowers, hummingbirds, doves – and all her paintings tell a story,” she adds. “She experiments with gesture whether it’s walking around a canvas dripping paint á la Jackson Pollock or aggressive brushstrokes of Willen de Kooning with a very thick movement for her brushstrokes,” she continues. Calicchio often uses complementary colors (like blue and orange) to make the canvas pop.
According to her website, Fairfield County native Carol Calicchio’s ascent into the art world can be traced back to her family of artists and early education. Her mastery of abstract florals began several years after she graduated from the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID). A combination of painting and drawing studies at School of Visual Arts helped Calicchio realize her true passion was best expressed in the art she had been hanging in others’ homes as a designer. She now resides in Delray Beach, Florida, and creates her colorful works in a spacious, inspiring studio on the banks of the intracoastal waterway.
