Tallahassee, FL (May 11, 2021) — Downtown Tallahassee will welcome a new hotel as the AC Hotel Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol opens this week, it was announced today by Keith Hoogerheyde, General Manager.

Unlike anything Tallahassee has seen before — and considered by many to be the centerpiece of the brand-new entertainment district known as Cascades Park — the AC Hotel Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol is the city's new “must stay” hotel. The all-new Cascades Park is a 24-acre park featuring an amphitheater, shopping, dining, recreational activities, and more.


COVID-19 struck in the midst of construction of the property, and while most Americans were searching for basic necessities like paper goods and disinfecting wipes, construction at the AC Hotel Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol moved along ahead of schedule. Since other construction projects had come to a halt, Tower Construction Management was able to allot a larger crew to the AC Hotel site, all workers were housed at the sister Residence Inn property in Tallahassee to maintain a more secure pod, and building materials made it to the site as needed and often ahead of schedule. The project was managed by developer Robert Finvarb Companies.


With 150 rooms and four suites, the modern guest rooms are designed in warm color palettes and feature the AC Hotels brand’s philosophy of celebrating the beauty of classic modern design with no unwanted extras, enabling guests to maximize their stay with style and intention. Destined to be an incredibly popular spot, Charlie Park is a noteworthy rooftop lounge venue, which serves up amazing views to accompany inspired handcrafted cocktails and locally sourced small plates. It's the spot for people to meet and mingle with a drink in one hand and a great bite in the other.


The property is also home to the sophisticated AC Lounge® and AC Kitchen on the lobby level featuring European-inspired beverage and food offerings. Other amenities include a fitness center, 7 meeting rooms, 5,500 square feet of meeting space at the hotel, and a total of 34,432 square feet of total meeting space including Firestone Plaza, which is adjacent to the property right outside of their pre-function area.
