Readers Vote Amelia No. 6 Best Island in Continental US

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (July 10, 2020) – A coastal treasure of Northeast Florida, Amelia Island has found itself on Travel + Leisure magazine’s “Best Islands in the Continental United States” list for the second year in a row. The popular travel magazine’s 25th annual “World’s Best Awards” reader survey put Amelia Island at No. 6 on the list, topping other Florida islands including the Florida Keys, Captiva Island, Sanibel Island and Long Boat Key.

 “It is always an honor to be voted among the world’s best island destinations by the travel-savvy readers of Travel + Leisure magazine,” said Gil Langley, President of the Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Even in these uncertain times, it’s the same attributes valued by these experienced travelers that will bring visitors back to enjoy a relaxing escape with plenty of space to unwind and make unforgettable memories.”

The World’s Best Awards is a travel awards program run by Travel + Leisure and based on an annual reader survey. The prestigious annual awards honor the top travel destinations, hotels, and companies worldwide. The 2020 survey was open at from Nov. 4, 2019 to March 2, 2020.
