Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — August 13, 2020 — Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is extending its Family Special and beginning its new tour schedule Tuesday, September 8th through Wednesday, November 25th. The Family Special includes free admission for visitors who are age 17 and under with the purchase of an adult ticket which is $20. “Summer is always a leisurely time to visit Bonnet House.  Since emerging from lockdown two months ago, we can now align our tour hours based on the times that have proven most popular with visitors while at the same time conserving staff resources,” says Bonnet House CEO, Patrick Shavloske.  The museum will continue to be open Tuesday through Sunday but with shortened hours—the new museum hours are Tuesday through Friday 11:00am – 3:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 11:00am – 4:00pm.

Visitors will enjoy a one-way route around the beautiful estate, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The tour is entirely a self-guided walking experience. Guests will be required to maintain the social distance of six feet between visitors at all times, except for families currently residing in the same dwelling. As part of the experience, the historic house is offering a free mobile tour that will feature recorded information about each room, significant items from the collection and the family that created the estate.

Guests (except children 2 years old and younger) must wear masks/face coverings at all times. Face coverings and water ― in addition to soda, iced tea and ice cream ― will be available for purchase in the Welcome Center or Museum Shop.

No other discounts apply for the Family Special and tickets can be purchased at the Welcome Center on the day of your visit.  For more information about Bonnet House Museum & Gardens’ Family Special, please visit https://www.bonnethouse.org/event/family-special.

Celebrating its 100-year anniversary in 2020, Bonnet House is a part of Florida’s unique history. It was built in 1920 as the winter retreat of the Birch/Bartlett family, and is a fanciful blend of art, architecture, history and ecology. The 35-acre subtropical estate and historic house museum preserve the natural setting of South Florida, situated on what is one of the last examples of a native barrier island habitat in the region.
