National Camping Month, Free Art Saturdays, and 4th of July Celebrations Highlight the Season

This summer, Gadsden County invites families, nature lovers, and young adventurers to explore its vibrant offerings—from fishing and hiking to art camps and fireworks. As part of National Camping Month, the county is spotlighting its unmatched outdoor recreation alongside free arts experiences and traditional Fourth of July celebrations.

Families can visit the Gadsden Arts Center & Museum in Quincy every Saturday for Free Family Saturdays, which include hands-on art projects, exhibitions, and free admission. For children ages 6–12, Gadsden Arts Summer Art Camp runs weekly from June 9 through July 25 with themed sessions designed to spark creativity.

For those eager to connect with nature, Gadsden County’s outdoor escapes include:

  • Lake Talquin State Forest: Perfect for primitive camping, kayaking, and birdwatching.
  • Pat Thomas Park at Hopkins Landing: Featuring a boat launch, playground, and overnight campsites.
  • Apalachicola National Forest: Florida’s largest national forest offers swimming, hiking, and off-road trails.

Celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, food, and music during Chattahoochee’s 4th of July Celebration, held annually at Clyde Hopkins Park, drawing visitors from across the region for a day of family fun.

“As Florida’s hidden gem, Gadsden County offers something for everyone—especially during the summer,” says Leslie Steele, Marketing & Communications for Gadsden County TDC. “Whether it’s a weekend of camping or a child’s first art show, we’re creating spaces where memories can be made.” Gadsden County continues to grow as a destination for families and outdoor lovers. New events and updates for Summer 2025 will be released as they are confirmed.
