Marion County is launching a new tourism series on YouTube, Marion Insider’s Guide, highlighting the hidden gems of Ocala/Marion County.
The series is hosted by Marion County Commissioner Carl Zalak, III who currently sits on the Marion County Tourist Development Council. The series pairs the Commissioner’s knowledge of Marion County with a variety of experts across many facets of the Ocala/Marion County tourism landscape. Focusing on providing Ocala/Marion County visitors with insider tips to exploring the destination, this new series dives into, not just - what - you can do on your vacation to the area, but – how - to do it best.
Marion Insider’s Guide episodes will feature local experts, tell stories about the county’s unique offerings, and showcase an insider’s point of view to the destination. The first episode focuses on all things equestrian. The episodes can be found on the Ocala/Marion County Visitors and Convention Bureau’s (OMCVCB) website, OcalaMarion.com or on the OMCVCB’s YouTube Channel.

One of the goals of this new series is to broaden the reach of the marketing efforts of the Ocala/Marion County Visitors and Convention Bureau utilizing YouTube as a vehicle for capturing more engagement with visitors and potential visitors. YouTube is actually the second-largest search engine in the world, after Google and has billions of users worldwide, which means there is the potential for this content to be seen by a huge audience, many of whom might be considering their next vacation spot.
Notably, videos offer far more opportunity for engagement than static images or text and a series can capture the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of a destination in a way that makes viewers feel like they're already there, but still inspire them to visit. This is an innovative way to educate potential tourists about a destination's attractions, culture, and history, while providing inspiration for them to visit by showcasing the unique experiences that await them upon arrival to Ocala/Marion County.
