Local couple Brian and Elizabeth McCadie are bringing a unique new experience to The Florida Keys with the launch of Transparensea, a one-of-a-kind glass bottom boat offering day and night trips from Robbie’s Marina.
Brian McCadie, a long-time U.S. Coast Guard fishing charter captain, was inspired to create a distinctive experience in a relatively untapped area of The Keys. Elizabeth, who has worked alongside her husband in various ventures at Robbie’s, enthusiastically supported the idea. After extensive research and careful planning, the Transparensea is now delighting visitors with an innovative way to explore the marine beauty of Islamorada.
The 46-foot, open-air boat features 16 window wells, comfortable seating for 30 passengers, a restroom, and Seakeeper technology to reduce seasickness. A standout feature is its underwater lighting
system, making it the first U.S. glass bottom boat to offer night trips, allowing guests to view sharks, turtles, coral, and even squid illuminated against the dark waters.
“Our goal was to create something families could enjoy after dark,” says Brian McCadie. “The lights make such a difference, and the sea life is more active at night—this is truly a one-of-a-kind experience
in The Keys.”
Trips include narrated tours of rich coral areas, including Cheeca Rocks, Caloosa Rocks, and Alligator Reef, providing guests with an intimate look at Florida Keys marine life while avoiding crowded boating
areas.
The Transparensea operates seven days a week, excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, with the 2-hour tours going out at Noon and 3pm, and night trips departing 20 minutes after sunset. For more
