Marco Island (May 4, 2021) - Marco Island Center for the Arts is proud to host Art Quilters Unlimited for an “Out of the Ordinary” exhibition of 25 fiber artists from Lee and Collier County.

Unlike traditional quilting, the artwork in this exhibition offers a rich picture of tapestry and textile production that demonstrate the ongoing spirit of experimentation, with materials from natural fibers to synthetic fibers while utilizing varying techniques. The adventurous combinations of fabrics and spatially dynamic pieces present a more a sculptural approach to textile art that highlights the fluid expressivity of these artistic mediums.  The rich expression and visual authority of these works shows how fabric holds energy and memory embedded by the artists during creation. Each of the 72 pieces in this extraordinary exhibition is a unique and fascinating representation of the medium.

This exhibition will run May 10-July 6, 2021, with a gallery reception on June 8, at 5:30 pm.  During the gallery reception, there will be wine tasting provided in the courtyard by Total Wine & More.
