On November 18, more than 40 attendees of the Florida Tourism Forum in Panama City Beach planted sea oats at Mexico Beach.

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., January 14, 2020 – Panama City Beach is launching “Stay it Forward,” a voluntourism program aimed at offering a helping hand to neighboring Mexico Beach who continues to recover from Hurricane Michael’s impact in October 2018.

On Tuesday, February 18 or Thursday, March 26, 2020, visitors will have the opportunity to assist with cleanup and relief efforts in Mexico Beach by planting sea oats on sand dunes, partnering with Habitat for Humanity and more. Panama City Beach “voluntourists” will receive a “Stay it Forward” hat, t-shirt and equipment before embarking on their coordinated mission.

“Immediately following the storm, our visitors have been asking how they can help the area,” states Dan Rowe, Visit Panama City Beach President and CEO. “Mexico Beach has come a long way but there is still work to do. We are hopeful that ‘Stay it Forward’ will make an impact on this wonderful community while creating memorable vacations at our REAL.FUN.BEACH.”
