NAPLES (Sept. 24) – The 2nd annual Rookery Bay Classic Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 completely outdoors at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center, 300 Tower Road, Naples. The center will be open for restroom access only and masks will be required inside the building. Parking will be at the Walmart Supercenter, 6650 Collier Blvd., with free shuttles (masks required on shuttles). Admission is $10 for adults and youth 13 and older, and free for children ages 12 and younger. Pre-registration is encouraged at rookerybay.org/carshow to allow for social distancing. Rebates will be provided for cancelations at least 48 hours before the event. The day of the event, contactless payment for admissions will also be available. For more information, call 239-530-5972 or visit rookerybay.org.

Hosted by the Friends of Rookery Bay and Island Automotive, the event last year drew 92 cars representing everything from pre-1930s antiques to ‘60s and ‘70s muscle cars. This year, highlights so far include a 1981 DeLorean and a Toyota engine kit car.

The day will include family-friendly outdoor activities and food trucks, including El Local with Mexican food and Vesuvius Pizza.

Because the car show is an outdoor event, it will allow for social distancing. The organizers will follow CDC guidelines for safety and health precautions, including contactless check-in admissions payment and hand sanitizing stations. To encourage mask wearing, Friends of Rookery Bay will randomly reward guests wearing creative or interesting masks in compliance with CDC recommendations.

Proceeds help support education, conservation and research within the 110,000-acre Rookery Bay Research Reserve, which encompasses 40 percent of Collier County’s coastline.
