The Readers’ Choice poll placed West Palm in top spot of final 10

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (April 23, 2021) – The West Palm Beach GreenMarket has been named the number one farmers market in the U.S. by voters of USA Today 10Best. A panel of food and travel experts with the campaign determined their top 20 farmers markets and asked the public to vote on who should be crowned the number one market in the country. Voters had four weeks to cast their daily ballots for the market they thought was the worthiest of the recognition.

“We are beyond excited to celebrate this prestigious recognition,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “Thank you to our community for making this possible – our attendees, vendors and sponsors. We are grateful for your support and votes. I also congratulate our community events division for having created a world-class market they can now call ‘the best in the country.’”

USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice awards highlight the best of the best in categories such as destinations, dining, hotels, and entertainment. The city did not apply for the recognition but was independently nominated. The West Palm Beach GreenMarket, the only Florida market included in the top 20, defeated markets from nationwide destinations, including Seattle, Boston, and Hawaii. The top 10 are:

1. West Palm Beach GreenMarket (West Palm Beach, FL)
2. Green Dragon Farmer’s Market (Ephrata, PA)
3. Collingswood Farmers’ Market (Collingswood, NJ)
4. Peachtree Road Farmers Market (Atlanta, GA)
5. Pearl Farmers Market (San Antonio, TX)
6. Santa Fe Farmers’ Market (Santa Fe, NM)
7. Santa Monica Farmers Market (Santa Monica, CA)
8. Ballard Farmers Market (Seattle, WA)
9. Coastal Alabama Farmers & Fishermens Market (Foley AL)
10. Chattanooga Market (Chattanooga, TN)

The GreenMarket’s mission is to provide the community with seasonal access to locally grown fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, plants, and agricultural products. The market supports the southeast Florida agricultural community and stimulates agricultural development, particularly in Palm Beach

County, by providing an outlet for locally grown crops and specialty products. The West Palm Beach GreenMarket has been featured in The Boston Globe and named the number one green market in Florida by Cooking Light magazine. It can now add a No. 1 in the country recognition to its growing list of accolades, thanks to the support of its fans and friends.

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket will wrap the 2020-2021 season on Saturday, April 24, with an extra and celebratory Saturday. In partnership with the City’s Office of Sustainability, the annual “Make Like a Tree and Leave” promotion will provide West Palm Beach residents and business owners with a tree in honor of the successful market season.
